Ever since the end of Soviet rule in Mongolia, there have been increasing numbers of Mongol people leaving the nomadic lifestyle and trying to adapt themselves to an urban existence.
Mongolia has, for centuries, been defined by its nomadic population and the dominant pastoralist livelihood across the country. However, some would consider the migration of people- where those who once resided in the countryside herding cattle now live in the peripheral of the city- a shift in culture.
